How it works
Zigbee is a wireless standard made for smart devices. Each switch and sensor passes the signal to the next, so coverage grows as you add devices. A small hub connects them to your phone.
The switch on the wall stays the main control. Family members and guests use it as before. The app, schedules and scenes are extra.
What you can control without rewiring
- Lights: switch or dim each room from the wall or the app.
- Curtains and blinds: wireless curtain motors, by button, schedule or time of day.
- AC: set temperatures and timers room by room.
- Scenes: one tap for “Evening”, “Guests” or “All off”.
- Sensors: lights that turn on when you walk in, and an alert when a door opens.
- One app for everything: add Home Assistant to bring in cameras, the intercom and Wi-Fi.

What we check first
A site visit answers the practical questions before anything is ordered:
- The wall boxes and the wiring behind your current switches, so each new switch fits and works.
- Wi-Fi coverage. Zigbee has its own network, but the hub and the app still need reliable Wi-Fi. Many villas with several floors need extra access points.
- Which rooms matter most. Most clients start with the majlis, living room and master bedroom, then add more later.
When wired is the better choice
If you are building new or doing a full renovation, wired systems such as KNX or Loxone are worth considering, because cables can run before the walls close. For a home you already live in, wireless is usually faster, cleaner and less disruptive.
